SIMERPU recap and commentary: Mardy Gould

Opened — main text retrieved

Quick recap

Describes high pre-tax premium and wellness-payment mechanics, criticizing the claimed net-pay and payroll-tax results. Links to a separate PDF version.

SIMERPU’s viewpoint

Apex’s criticism makes the premium and payment amounts useful items to reconcile. SIMERPU would examine the complete payroll sequence, including fees and additional benefits, to understand the claimed result. The employer should be able to reproduce the illustration and see what assumptions drive it.

What this source contributes

The premium and payment mechanics give employers concrete amounts to reconcile with a payroll illustration.

What remains unanswered

The complete result requires checking fees, optional benefits and the actual basis for the recurring payment.

Mardy Gould’s take

I would rebuild the illustration from the first deduction to the final net pay. Include every charge and benefit selection. If the employer can reproduce the result, the conversation can move to the assumptions supporting it. That is a better starting point than accepting or rejecting a large savings number by itself.

Questions I would bring to the conversation

1. Do all deductions and fees appear in the example?

2. What creates the recurring payment entitlement?

3. Can payroll reproduce the claimed result?

What would change our assessment?

A complete reconciliation and documented payment basis could resolve factual uncertainty in applying the critique.
